The baby boomer generation is getting older and, as such, many are remodeling their homes and bathrooms to make them more accessible and their daily lives easier. Many are focusing predominantly on their bathrooms however, as this is where most accidents occur for the older generation.
Many are suggesting measures that baby boomers can incorporate into their bathrooms to make the overall bathing experience safer without compromising on style. They recommend laying a non-slip material, such as carpet, as opposed to hardwoods or linoleum to prevent slippages, installing walk-in baths and showers to make the experience safer and just as relaxing, higher toilets that offer easier access, wider doorways to accommodate walkers and canes, and better lighting so as they can identify items with more confidence.
These are some basic recommendations. “Walk-in showers and baths should always be the main feature though, as that’s where you’re more likely to spend time relaxing to lower blood pressure and enhance ones overall experience.
